Day 1 - Travel to Tel Aviv

A very full day of travel. Eleven hours to Frankfurt, Germany and 4 hrs to Tel Aviv. You can see by this pic of Julia that we are pretty excited.

What really hit me as we were landing in Israel was that this was too easy. I thought about how Moses and the Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years before they were allowed to enter...and then Moses was not even allowed in. He could only view it from afar.   Maybe I was tired or maybe the spirit moved me but I started to cry . The hardships they must have encountered.

  1. The 2nd thing that struck me as we were flying in was the Mediterranean Sea. We flew in over the Sea coming from the west towards the east. It took us just a few minutes to cross it. For the apostle Paul, he spent the later part of his life during his 3 missionary journeys telling the good news to the Gentiles. Where would we be if he had not caught the "fire" of the spirit to preach to those so eager to hear the news.

What was it like for Paul on the road to Damascus when he met Jesus? What was said and done to turn around a man so bent on persecuting and killing these new followers of The Way to a man who spent the remainder of his life ministering to us Gentiles. And this meeting took place AFTER the resurrection. He was willing to face imprisonment, persecution and even death to make sure we knew of the Son of God .He was an educated Roman citizen who literally gave up a pretty secure lifestyle to tell us about Jesus . He even faced opposition within the apostles of Jesus who thought the message of Jesus was only for the Jews . Most of the New Testament was written by this man who traversed this beautiful Sea and we Gentiles are the benefactors of this man's dedication.
