Golan Heights
The Golan Heights has exchanged hands several times but now resides within the Israelian border. A beautiful view despite the conflicts.
From this pic we are looking east from Israel into Syria. Syria begins just past the farmlands and that small body of water.
Interestingly enough, today we saw a column of black smoke billowing up. As casually as we would saw "hey I think a fire may have started", the Israelis say "hey look, there may have been a missle...looks like it is in Syria so that's all right."
At this point they don't think Syria will attempt an attack, "they have Hezzbolah for that." Apparently Syria has its own internal struggles.
Going through the Golan Height, the remanents of war were all around. Mine fields fenced off that have not been cleared yet, bunkers,
and military camps/activities.
Despite all that, the area was beautiful with lots of crops (apples, cherries) and cattle/goats grazing the fields. This area has a lot if potential for Israel's future.
