Hula Valley Nature Preserve
In Galilee, there is a beautiful nature preserve called the Hula Valley Nature Preserve. We went here at 8:30 one morning and it was BEAUTIFUL. This valley rests in the area where three continents meet and it is one of the most fertile areas in all Israel. In addition, this is the perfect crossing grounds for birds migrating. Here are a few pics from our walk - we didn't see many birds since it wasn't the season, but we did see some Caspian Turtles, a couple of Nutria, and we definitely heard a lot of frogs. I'm glad we didn't see any of those!
Here is a link to a great video showing the various birds who stop here during migration. I have to say one of the best parts of the stop was the movie they showed! We all filed into what looked like a sort of battle-scarred theater and were surprised to find 3D glasses in the pockets of the seats. Once the movie started, we were in for a treat - it was the best 4D experience I've ever had, and I've been a Disney-phile all my life! They took you along with the birds in flight by moving your chair up and down and side to side, and had cool or warm air blowing depending on the part of the film. VERY, very well done. Go if you can!
