One Week!
So here we are, one week from getting on a plane to the Holy Land. So. Excited.!! Want to know how prepared I am? Just check out aallllll the preparations I've done so far.
Yeah. That's pretty much it - I got my passport handy. Life is so busy; new job, activities, my beloved doggie, hobbies, cleaning, preparing to receive my new bed on Saturday. Also, not gonna lie, a lot of time is taken up by my biggest hobby - tv. Anyway, I'm taking the 18th off and that will be my day to pack and get it all together (with some stuff being done this weekend too!)
My sister Norma has been so much better at preparing than I have - I'm going to have to rely on her steady presence. If you know me, you know that while I look cool, calm & collected most of the time, I'm actually super spontaneous and hate planning and preparing. I like winging it! Norma doesn't! We're going to make a great team.
One thing I actually did plan for was boarding my beloved doggie. My new boss has a dark brindle boxer (truth be told, that was the omen that made me decide to take the position!) and he knows a local lady who only takes in boxers. So I called this angel, Lillian, back in early March. Yes, you read that right. I CALLED someone! I was very proud of adult me that day. We spoke, she wrote it on her calendar, and we were both excited for Bolshoi to get a vacation. Flash forward to today, when neurotic, worrisome me wanted to confirm. I called her and left a voicemail. It's been about 6 hours and she hasn't called me back. I shouldn't panic, right? RIGHT? EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE, RIGHT? No, no - I know it will. It will.
Seriously though, I'm super excited for this pilgrimage. God is so good to bless me with the opportunity and I plan to soak in everything I can, and I know we will be sharing as much as we can, as often as we can. Not entirely sure how much access I'll have while there, but you know me, I like to take pictures! Follow me on Instagram (@radicalgirl) if you want to see them in real time.

So I am the planner you say Julia??? Yes, I guess I am guilty of that. So much stuff. Went to the store to buy snacks for the airplane and the trip. Yummm. My pile of "stuff" is getting too big so I must dig out my suitcase and start packing. I cannot save it for the last day as you do.
ReplyDeleteSeriously folks, I just want to say that I hope you enjoy our journeys to the Holy Land. Julia and I have been planning it for 2 years. We are very excited on many fronts. We hope you enjoy our blogging and pictures as we journey on our vacation of our dreams.
So excited! Except for the camel ride!
ReplyDeleteI am actually checking out all the hotels now. You will not mind your camel ride at all Julia. The hotel in Haifa actually has a spa--oh yeah.
DeleteAll the hotels are boutique hotels, yeah. No big monster of hotels. The ALL have free WiFi and happy hour. Yes, you guessed it. I am going to do my blogging during happy hour at each hotel. Please disregard all the misspellings and missed words as I write like a crazy woman after only 1 drink.
At the Dead Sea, our hotel actually overlooks the Dead Sea. It has Yoga, Pilates and water aerobics. Oh so glad we are packing our lovely old lady bathing suits. Sounds like this will be fun. There is a nice paved path from the hotel to the Dead Sea. I guess we will do some walking too.
In Jerusalem, our hotel overlooks the Old City.
Does it get any better than this?
I. Am. So. Excited. I'm gonna have to use all my adulting skills to get through the next two (critical) days at work. My mind is already blissfully floating on the Dead Sea, granny bathing suit and all!
DeleteFYI for those who were worried (Pretty much only me) - I spoke to the wonderful lady who will be watching Bolshoi. All is well!
